City Fringe is a commercial development on the edge of Nelson’s city centre.

This has been an expanding development site since 2011. 

Including premises such as NZ Automobile Association, Redpath Electrical, Glen Roberts Electrical, Placemakers, Rockgas, BOC Gases, Smith & Smith and multiple Self Storage Units, this has become a very desirable development to be located for local businesses.

 

Countdown Motueka

Project: Retail

Location: High Street, Moteuka

Value: $3m

Contract period: 12 months

A staged project involving multiple work fronts (including a state highway), highlighted Gibbons versatility and ability to work in a confined area without compromising public access.

This architecturally designed space stands out from other supermarkets and includes additional retail space complementing the primary build about the perimeter.

This is a space that will stand the test of time.

 

MDF Plant

Project: Industrial

Location: Lower Queen Street, Richmond

Client: Nelson Pine Industries Limited

This already huge MDF and LVL manufacturing plan on the outskirts of Richmond, was extended in 2003.

Creating such large open spaces out of manufactured timber products took some getting used to but the end result is a thing of beauty. From the outside it looks much like any other industrial building, but inside the warmth and natural feel of the timber stands out.

 

A precision product was teamed up with a precision install to create an exceptional finished product.

 

Quay Apartments

Contract period: Tower 1 (June 2004 – October 2006) & Tower 2 (June 2012 – May 2014)

We worked closely with our property division to create the design of this premium apartment development.

Situated on Nelson’s Wakefield Quay waterfront, these contemporary three bedroom apartments offer generous living spaces, yet are streamlined and functional with exceptional attention to detail.  

Our construction expertise ensured the buildability of the design and the high quality fit out ensured appeal to the discerning market.

New World Motueka

We managed the design, build and fit out for this supermarket extension and were careful to work with the community and neighbours to minimise the visual impact of the new building.

Speights Ale House

Project: Commercial

Location: 99 Quarantine Road, Nelson

Value: $840k

Contract period: 6 Months, 2011

Consultants: James Stuart Architectural Limited

 

A structural build for the iconic Speights Alehouse. 

A mix of structural steel, architectural precast concrete and natural timbers, complemented the angular shapes and forms of this building without detracting from the functionality and style.

 

The Warehouse

Location: St Vincent Street, Nelson

Client: Gibbons Property / The Warehouse

Some of Nelsons first bulk retail, The Warehouse is on the fringe of Nelson City. It became a prime location and other large retail developments began to build around it.

It is a testament to the forward thinking and design that it is still such a usable space 20 years later.
